The Saenger Lab
BIO
Dr. Yvonne Saenger

Dr. Yvonne Saenger is an Associate Professor of Oncology, serving as the director of the Immune Monitoring Core Facility and Immunotherapy Program at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Clinically, Dr. Saenger specializes in cancer immunotherapy and utilizes available immune based medicines to provide personalized treatment to her patients. As for research, much of her work centers around analyzing immune biomarkers in melanomas, as well as in liver and pancreatic cancer.
Her current work focuses on understanding how immunotherapy causes alterations in immune gene expression in blood and tumor samples and affects the tumor microenvironment (TME). Dr. Saenger’s melanoma research incorporates immunogenomics and she is working to investigate the networks of immune genes that are most determinative of patient outcome. Through collaboration with other clinicians and researchers, we are working to develop a novel immune biomarker that can more accurately predict survival in patients with stage II and III melanomas. Dr. Saenger’s laboratory is determined on developing new clinical tools designed to make immunotherapy available to larger patient populations, especially for patients who do not respond to currently available immunotherapies.
